On March 14th, our Blue Devil Battalion proudly hosted our annual Awards Ceremony, a special event dedicated to recognizing and honoring our cadets. This ceremony celebrated outstanding achievements in our program, academics, leadership and service.

Congratulations to our Blue Devil Drill team for an outstanding performance at the District Competition at Ridge Community High School on March 8th.

On May 9th our JROTC Battalion conducted our anual Field Day! Cadets competed in multiple events like Raider Relay, kickball, flag football, obstacle course, and tug-of-war; The day was filled with excitement, comradeship, and amazing food.
The companies took a moment to show the new mottos, we honored our seniors for all their efforts and dedication, and we close with a golden touch by having a free-for-all water balloon fight.
Congratulations to Charlie company for being our Field Day winners once again, we hope everyone had fun and created a lot of memories❤️!

Closing the year with the Blue Devils 2024-2025 Drill Team. We are so proud of every single cadet in this team, and all of them did a wonderful job this year.

As summer approaches, so does the merry month of May. With the school year drawing to a close, our Blue Devil Battalion remains dedicated to finishing strong and proud.
In the coming weeks, we look forward to our annual Battalion Field Day and celebrating the graduation of the Class of 2025. Cadets, thank you for your hard work and commitment throughout the year, you’ve helped make it truly remarkable. As we move through May, don’t forget to wish a happy birthday to our fellow cadets celebrating this month, and keep studying those ranks!

Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to our seniors. Oh, the places you’ll go! No matter where life takes you, you’ll always be a part of the Blue Devil Battalion.

On April 28th, the Winter Haven Medical Academy students came to our classroom to teach our cadets how to stop the bleed.
They practice techniques such as applying direct pressure to a wound and using clean cloths or bandages to minimize the blood flow; This training not only equips them with vital first aid skills but also fosters a sense of responsibility and preparedness for real-life emergencies.
Thank you to the Medical Academy for providing us this opportunity and remember to stay safe Winter Haven!

On April 16th our Blue Devil Battalion participated in a celebration parade for our spring sports teams and state champions, the girls basketball team and a golf player. Our battalion helped to embody the spirit of our school community.

Congratulations to Cadet Craft for being recognized as the FSC JROTC Cadet of the Year. She was invited to Florida Southern College’s Military Ball at Haus 820 to be awarded the JROTC Cadet of the Year plaque, which was presented by Colonel Dumser; FSC cadets, and dignitaries from the military attended and enjoyed this event.

As March comes to a close, we welcome the hopeful arrival of April—a month that reminds us that something better is always just around the corner. As the school year begins to wind down, our cadets remain as committed and dedicated as ever. With prom and the last uniform wear day on the horizon, it’s time to continue perfecting those uniforms and finishing strong with those grades. And don’t forget to wish our April birthdays a happy celebration! Above all, remember this: “Don’t limit your growth. Embrace the opportunities that come your way and welcome them with open arms.”

As the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to every cadet for making this year truly remarkable. Throughout the year, we’ve witnessed incredible achievements, from our Female Raider Team and Drill Team to our Rifle Team and beyond. As a battalion, we’ve grown together, overcoming challenges both individually and as a united force.

We hope each cadet has taken valuable lessons from our program and that the memories made this year will continue to inspire and guide you on the path ahead. No matter where life takes you, we know you will carry excellence with you, and you will always be part of the Blue Devil Battalion.

On March 14th, our Blue Devil Battalion proudly hosted our annual Awards Ceremony, a special event dedicated to recognizing and honoring our cadets. On March 12th, our Blue Devil Cadets had the incredible opportunity to teach students at Garden Grove Elementary with Junior Achievement. Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization, is dedicated to preparing young people for the global world. The essential lessons taught were focused on finance and community. Our cadets engaged with students through interactive lessons and strengthened their leadership skills. Overall, this experience was very meaningful to both our cadets and to the students.

This Friday, March 14th, our Battalion will proudly host its annual JROTC Awards Ceremony. This special event will celebrate the dedication, hard work, and achievements of our cadets as they are recognized for their excellence in participation, academics, and service.

Family, friends, and supporters are warmly invited to attend and show their appreciation for our cadets’ commitment and accomplishments. We look forward to seeing you there!

On March 8th our Blue Devil cadets volunteered for the American Legion Ball at the American Legion Post 8. Our cadets helped with setup and cleanup, food preparation, serving, and dishwashing.
It was such a pleasure be part of this event, and we are so proud of our cadets for all their hard work.

Congratulations to our Blue Devil Drill Team for an outstanding performance at Districts at Ridge Community High School on March 8th. Competing in multiple categories including Male/Mixed Unarmed Platoon, Male/Mixed Armed, Female Armed, Female Unarmed, and Female Color Guard, our cadets showcased incredible skill and dedication. A special shoutout to our Female Unarmed team for earning 2nd place and our Male/Mixed Unarmed Platoon for securing 3rd, both earning a spot at the 2025 Florida State Drill Meet at George Jenkins High School on April 12th!

To every cadet who gave their all this season, your hard work and commitment have truly set the standard for our program. We are beyond proud and can’t wait to see you shine next year. Go Big Blue! 💙💛

On March 8th, volunteers of our Blue Devil Battalion stepped up to support the 12th annual Police Department 5K in downtown Winter Haven. They cheered on runners, handed out water, and distributed medals at the finish line. This event helps raise funds for Special Olympics Florida, and our cadets were proud to be part of such a great cause. It was a fantastic day for everyone involved! 💛💙

On March 4th, our Blue Devil Battalion proudly hosted our second Cadet of the Quarter Inspection. Cadets from each company and LET level were selected to showcase their knowledge of the JROTC program, first aid, the Army, and much more as they competed for the top spot in their category. Every participant displayed outstanding commitment and discipline, and we couldn’t be prouder of those who rose to the challenge. Keep up the great work, Blue Devils!

As spring arrives, so does the magnificent month of March! With a new season comes fresh opportunities. We have a packed calendar ahead, including Drill Districts, the WH PD 5K, our Awards Ceremony, and much more! As we move through the third quarter, cadets, be sure to keep studying your ranks to secure those perfect averages. Don’t forget to celebrate our March babies, and we wish everyone a month filled with good luck, good health, and new beginnings! 🍀🍀🍀

On February 20th, our Blue Devil Battalion proudly hosted a Black History Potluck in celebration of Black History Month. This event brought together members of our battalion to honor and celebrate the rich history and culture of the Black community. Many cadets and staff members had the opportunity to enjoy the delicious and diverse dishes that were brought to the event.

On February 13th, the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club visited WHHS to educate the student body about the remarkable history of the Buffalo Soldiers, with a special focus on Cathay Williams, the first documented African American woman to serve in the U.S. Army. During their presentation, the club shared powerful speeches connecting the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers and to modern-day challenges, encouraging students to draw inspiration from their perseverance and resilience. The event also included an opportunity for students to admire the club’s motorcycles and engage in thoughtful discussions with the members. A heartfelt thank you to the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club for sharing their inspiring history with us!

On February 8th, our Blue Devil cadets had the honor of volunteering at the American Legion’s Law & Order dinner, a ceremony recognizing the outstanding efforts of our local law enforcement, firefighters, and EMTs. Our cadets worked diligently, assisting with meal preparation, serving, and both setting up and cleaning up the event. We are grateful to the American Legion for allowing us to be part of such an incredible occasion, and we are incredibly proud of our hardworking cadets.

On Thursday, February 6th, some of our Blue devils volunteered at the Ferguson Company’s Wild Game Cookout. The event consisted of various vendors, live music, incredible food, and a lot of prizes. Our cadets had a great time greeting, serving food, and cleaning.

Last but not least, we are all very gratetul for the Ferguson Team for allowing us to be a part of this exciting event!

Yesterday on February 1st, our Blue Devil Drill Team competed at the University of Tampa Drill Meet. Our squads consisted of Female Unarmed, Male/Mix Armed, Male/Mix Unarmed, Male/Mix Colorguard, Female Armed, and Female Colorguard. Keep up the amazing work, Blue Devils and shoot for the sky!! 💙💛

As January wraps up, we warmly welcome the darling month of February. Our battalion has a full schedule ahead with drill meets, the Law and Order dinner, picture day, and so much more. Cadets, be sure to stay on top of uniform regulations, keep those grades sharp, and don’t forget to wish your peers a happy birthday! And always remember, life is short, it is up to you to make it sweet 💙💛

On January 25th, our Blue Devil Drill Team competed at Booker High School, showcasing the hard work of our cadets. With us were our Female Colorguard, Male/Mixed Colorguard, Female Unarmed, Female Armed, Male/Mixed Armed, and Male/Mixed Unarmed squads. On Saturday, January 18th, our Blue Devil Drill Team went to Brandon High School to attend the BMW Drill meet. Those who competed were our Female Colorguard, Male/Mixed Colorguard, Female Armed Squad, and Female Unarmed Squad. A huge congratulations to our Male/Mixed Colorguard for placing 3rd; Every cadet showed up and put in their best effort. We are so proud of everyone, and let’s keep the good work for this Drill season Blue Devils! 💛💙

On January 17th, our Blue Devil Sabre Team and Colorguard proudly attended the American Legion’s MLK luncheon at Nora Mayo Hall. The Sabres graciously guided attendees inside, while our talented Colorguard presented the colors. Together, they embodied the spirit of JROTC and set a high standard for excellence. Great job, Blue Devils, we are always proud of you! 💙💛

On January 15th, our Blue Devil Cadets had the opportunity to teach students at Brigham Academy through Junior Achievement. Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire and prepare young people for success in the global economy, focusing on lessons in finance, community, and family. Our cadets worked in groups of three, engaging with the students to deliver these lessons effectively. They also shared lunch with the students, further building connections. Overall, it was a rewarding experience for our cadets, who not only enjoyed teaching but also learned a lot themselves. Keep up the great work Blue Devils, keep pushing forwards!! 💛💙

On December 18th, our Blue Devil Battalion hosted our first Cadet of the Quarter Inspection. This is an exciting recognition where cadets from different LET levels and companies compete for the top spot of their level! To earn the title, cadets sit in front of a board to showcase their skills and test their knowledge of the JROTC program, the Army, and current events. The inspection is not only a test of knowledge, but also a chance for cadets to showcase their leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly proud of all participants who stepped up to represent the Blue Devil Battalion with pride and determination!

As we say goodbye to a year filled with learning, we welcome the new one, bringing with it many more opportunities in the lovely month of January! Welcome back, cadets, to the new year and semester, where we’ll have exciting events and even more to learn. January’s calendar includes Junior Achievement, the BMW Drill Meet, and the SMA Drill Meet. We are very excited for this new season and the goals we’ll achieve together. Remember to keep studying the Cadet Creed, and don’t forget to wish your peers a happy birthday!

Congratulations to our Best Raider teams for their performance at the Best Raider Competition at Braden River High School! This challenging event featured a two-person team format, with competitors tackling six demanding events: the 5K, Cross-Country Rescue, Tire Flip, Knots and Bows, Obstacle Course, and a mystery event, which this year was a Kettlebell Relay. With us we had one male team and two female teams, each of whom demonstrated incredible dedication, teamwork, and skill. Their hard work and perseverance paid off, showcasing the results of their intense training and collaboration. Well done, Blue Devils, you truly exemplified the spirit of excellence!

On December 14th, our Blue Devil Cadets had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Winter Haven Santa’s Run Fest. Throughout the events, they were handing out water, directing runners along the course, and cheering to keep everyone motivated. Not only did they help ensure the event ran smoothly, but they also contributed to spreading holiday cheer and joy to all involved, making it a memorable and heartwarming experience for the entire community.

As November fades away, December brings the promise of new beginnings. To close the year we have activities like: the National Guard brief, Best raiders, the Santa 5k run, and our well deserved winter break. Cadets, make sure to study up on those ranks, and wish a happy birthday to your fellow cadets born in this month. Remember to always keep up the great work Blue Devils, and happy holidays to everyone as we get ready to close off the year 2024!

Our Fall Presidential Fitness Challenge has been successfully completed once again! This past week, the Blue Devil Battalion participated in the JROTC’s version of the Presidential Fitness Test (PFT), designed to assess and enhance overall physical fitness. Each cadet was tested on their V-sit, one-mile run, shuttle run, one-minute push-ups, and curl-ups. Based on their performance, cadets will be awarded a score in either the 50th or 85th percentile. Every cadet put in incredible effort and demonstrated exceptional determination throughout the week. Keep up the outstanding work, Blue Devils!

Huge congratulations to our Female Blue Devil Raiders for taking on the 2024 State Raider Competition at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation Camp on Nov. 16th. They placed 2nd in 5k, 3rd on Rope Bridge, 2nd in CCR, and 3rd on the Fitness Challenge, earning them a 2nd place overall win. These ladies have worked through literal blood sweat and tears for this very competition, letting their teamwork, dedication, and effort shine through. They made history once again being the only Raider team to ever bring home an overall trophy from a state competition. A win for one, is a win for all. Thank you to every Raider this year who made this incredible season possible. We could not be any prouder! 💙💛

On November 16th, our Female Blue Devil Raiders will compete in the State Competition at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation. Their events are scheduled as follows:

-8:15 AM: 5k
-10:00 AM: CCR
-11:30 AM: Fitness Challenge
-1:00 PM: Rope
-2:30 PM: Tire Flip

On November 11th, our dedicated JROTC cadets had the privilege of warmly welcoming Applebee’s customers in honor of Veterans Day. This special occasion gave them the opportunity to connect with and give back to the veterans in our community. Throughout the day, countless inspiring stories were shared and deeply appreciated by our cadets. A heartfelt thank you to Applebee’s for providing us with this incredible opportunity to celebrate and honor our veterans on such a meaningful day! 🇺🇸

Our Blue Devil Cadets had a fantastic time volunteering at the District 12 Marching MPA on November 9th! Their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Not only did they give their all to help, but they also got to enjoy the incredible performances from the marching bands— including our very own Pride of Winter Haven! Keep up the amazing work, Blue Devils! You’re doing an outstanding job!

On November 8th, our Female Raider Team gathered for a celebratory dinner at Olive Garden to honor their incredible accomplishments this year. It was an evening full of fun, laughter, and reflection on their hard work. Now, these dedicated ladies are gearing up for the next week, preparing both mentally and physically for the state competition ahead!

On Nov. 7th, our Blue Devil Cadets volunteered at WHHS’s last football game of the 2024 season. They worked very hard and with a lot of effort to keep the game running smoothly. Amazing job to our JROTC Colorguard for presenting the flags as well. Additionally this special game included Senior Night for our senior cadets. A special shoutout to them for such an amazing feat, we know you’ll go far.

On November 5th, our Blue Devil Cadets demonstrated their knowledge of flag detail as they assisted in raising and lowering the American and State Flags. This act honors those who have served and shows respect for our country. JROTC’s mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens, keep up the great work, Blue Devils!

Congratulations to our Blue Devil Raiders for their incredible performance at the District Raider Meet at Tenoroc High School on November 2nd! Our Male team secured 4th place in the rope bridge, while our Male/Mixed team placed 2nd in Rope Bridge and 4th in the Team Run and Tire Flip. Lastly, our female team brought home the gold with a 1st place overall, making history as the first Female Raider team to qualify for states at WHHS!

Despite the ups and downs of the season, your spirit, effort, and determination have truly shone through. We are so proud of every single Raider for making this season unforgettable. Next stop: States! 💙💛

On November 2nd, our Blue Devil Cadets volunteered at the American Legion’s annual Poppy Drive. This charity raises money for veterans, active-duty servicemembers, and their families.
For every donation, our cadets gave that person a poppy, symbolizing the blood shed during battle following the publication of the wartime poem “In Flanders Fields.”

Our Blue Devil cadets had a blast this week with Alphabet PT! For this PT, we turned our names into a fun workout, doing different exercises for each letter. The energy was high as everyone cheered each other on, tackling everything from push-ups to flutter kicks. It was a great way to mix things up, and everyone left feeling motivated and accomplished. Now, our cadets can’t wait for next week’s session to see what exciting challenges await! Stay tuned for more fun and fitness ahead!

As autumn approaches, we welcome the lovely month of November, filled with exciting festivities! Our schedule features events like Band Fest, a rifle match, Poppy Drive, and much more. Be sure to follow our page to see our cadets prepare for the Presidential Fitness Test, which includes push-ups, shuttle runs, sit-ups, mile runs, and other challenges. And with Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’ll soon enjoy a well-deserved break! Keep up the great work, Blue Devils, and let’s aim for those 85th percentiles!

On October 23rd, our Blue Devil Battalion proudly hosted a Hispanic Heritage Potluck in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This vibrant event showcased the rich diversity of Hispanic culture, with each cadet contributing a traditional dish that reflected their heritage. It was a meaningful occasion that not only honored the contributions of Hispanic Americans but also strengthened our sense of community within the Battalion.

Our female team secured 2nd place in Rope Bridge and 3rd place in both CCR and the 5K. Meanwhile, our male team placed 3rd in Rope Bridge.
